Whenever life gets difficult and things just don’t go right
When happiness is hard to find or even out of sight
Just take a look around you, at all the things you’ve got
The little things that don’t cost much, but add up to a lot
The love and warmth of family life, close friendships you can treasure
Fond memories of happy days can bring you endless pleasure
So when life gets too much for you and the pressures are too great
And advice that someone gives to you is about a decade late
Just take the time to reflect, on all those happy times gone by
And you’ll soon find those tears so sad, will turn to tears of joy.

Treasure Her Memory
Memories are so precious
don’t ever let them fade
Hang her portrait in the brightest room
not hidden in the shade
Allow her smile to great you
every morning when you wake
Hear her voice encouraging
each new step that you take
And when you feel the need to hug her
breath the perfume that she wore
And you will be transported
to those loving arms once more.

Message To The Gaffa
The shop floor seems uneasy; you sense there’s something wrong
No sign of workplace banter, no laughter, no song
So what could be the problem? Go on then, ask me if you dare
My Anglo Saxon fury tells me you don’t even care
The answer lies with delegates who think that they know best
But a measure of intelligence would put them to the test
Not of mental arith-metic skills or eloquence or such
But of practical ability; is that asking too much?
The solution is quite easy, yet hard for you to do
Get down here off your pedestal, get your hands dirty too
Try talking to us now and then, don’t stand there and dictate
Were not just subordinates, we’re your bread and butter, mate!© Robert J Evans
A Sonnet to Tracey (my friend for life)
Fate introduced us and friends we became,
our lives would never again be the same.
You melted my heart with your warm loving ways,
time was too short on the longest of days.
Hoping and dreaming the day would soon come,
when friends became lovers, two hearts beat as one.
You have given so much, too much to list,
since our first encounter, initial tryst.
Thought I had lost you, my world seemed to end,
then out of the blue, the voice of my friend.
If you had not called, where would I be?
There’s no way that fate would be so good to me.
You are my world and the key to my heart,
love is eternal, may we never part.© Robert J Evans
A Thought for Christmas
IT’S Christmas time again – what do you see?
The shops are overflowing and lights shine upon the tree
But what about the sadness in that far off land?
Where people jus lie dying because nothing grows in sand
How can we compare the feelings in their hearts with ours?
They must just be wondering if anybody cares
Please don’t let these thoughts of mine take your happiness away
Just spare a thought and say a prayer for them on Christmas Day© Robert J Evans
